"we'll never be royal'

assalamualaikum n hello to you!
recently. i made this gorgeous emerald green princess cut dress with gathered waist like a princess dress. why gathered waist?why go to all the  trouble? because i'll never be royal darn it!ahaha just kidding..:P my hands have been itching to make one after i saw love-to-dress Royal Imaan Dress and how lovely it was..i love the gathered waist too! and the flare!

but it is a bit expensive (for me)..but hey people still buy it because it does make you feel all princessy!

so..i decided to make my own royal dress!the colour is actually emerald green and i wore it with my diy shoulder lace embelishment!its so easy to make!it instantly brightens any plain dress!sigh..if only i had a twin to help me record my diy tutorials..
this dress is not hard to do actually. it just requires a lil bit of patience when you want to do the gathered waist. i did not use any elastic at the waist because the material is stretchy lycra..its easy to do but the results is that the material tend to be way too stretched and that would create a wavy effect on the waist..if you want a neat gathered waist..then you have to do it the traditional way and also by using elastic with, which has a small width..but i just love my imperfect DIY dress..it just feels home made..hehe
okay then, so after much twirling around and feeling royal, till my next diy..insyaallah i will blog about my new diy harem pants or aladdin pants!really comfortable and cute!
wslm!

beautiful batik

assalamualaikum and hello!wow such a long2 time since my last post..i've been busy with work, family and sewing ofcourse..hehe i've made so many creations..all of them different..n unique...im not sure why..i go with my mood and what im feeling..you can view some of my creations at my instagram: patxjoe or #verstylista. i should be consistently posting about my creations but unfortunately i was not able to. i wanted to do a lil bit of diying and sharing it here which i will do my best to make that happen.

so recently, i just finished cleaning my sewing/laundry/ stuff room because it was too messy..and i really2 wanted to sort out my fabric. over the years, i had accumulated tonnes of fabric, like literally i can open up my own fabric shop. i am a hoarder.

well its not my fault because jakel n kamdar have such lovely fabric designs n materials! so i vowed to myself, i will finish off all of these fabrics before i start buying more.

some of the fabrics that i have consisted of batik prints! i have a gorgez pink-marroon hand designed batik and your normal everyday wear block printed batik. see if you can spot in the picture on your left!
i love both types of batik designs! i am not a batik expert or anything because i dont know what the batik motifs or patterns are called but mostly they are floral and gorgeously designed with "emotional" colours. you can read more on batik here: www.jadibatek.com

The trend nowadays is all on tribal prints but most of us do not even know from which tribe these prints are based from! hahah..people just like to wear whatever is in style without understanding what they are wearing basically. for example..skulls or crazy zig zag patterns (which i love). no offense to the skull lovers but i am truly, sincerely curious with your love for skulls oh and yes..moustaches!hahah recently, some of my students did a presentation on the Hipster culture and from my own readings, these patterns of skulls and moustaches are based on these hipster cultures which is now trending (and still trending). another post on hispter type of dressing soon.

back to the beautiful batik! i have tonnes of "kain Batik" (kain=fabric). but unfortunately, i do not know how to wear my kain batik. one should wear it as a long skirt, but i cannot secure it around my waist because it does not have any elastic or belt. you have to fold and twist and walla..here is a simple tutorial on how to wear the kain batik.so since i suck at that, i decided to turn my kain batik into a chic top instead!haha! well its such a waste to not use these kain batiks so thats why i decided to do so. in malaysia u will rarely see block printed batiks to be worn as a dress or a top because kain batiks are usually used for "basahan" or everyday use in the comfort of your own home or during your confinement period. in the old age, our grandmothers will actually wear it with their kurung top n working it. here is an example of some malaysian celebs owning the kain batik.
but block printed batik is rarely found nowadays to be a fashion statement. unlike our indonesian friends, they are crazy over their block printed batiks!they turn it into so many things, so i was basically inspired by their usage of batiks!next project..a batik vintage handbag with chanel like chains!ooh!

so what i did was a jovian mandagie inspired chic top. i described as jovian mandagie chic top because, it kind of looks like it

but of course he is a genius and his designs are way more beautiful. i paired by emerald green batik with an emerald green lycra to give it some color and pattern block.
i think if a top or dress consist of 100% pattern, it will look too crowded and i feel that its too much patterns for the eyes to bear with. but i think in the future, im gonna pair my batik prints with chiffon instead to give it that expensive, chic and lightweight feel as i have done with my other tops . lycra is a bit heavy because block batik printed fabric is usually stiff so i wanted to add some weight to it by using lycra.

i added a zipper at the front for easy breastfeeding!so here it is. i did it in 1 and half hours i think..hehe i got lots of likes from my friends, and some even requested a batik printed shawl which has been in my mind hehe, but that will be for another post soon!insyaallah..

toodles!wslm!:)

i loveee the prints by the way!tribal prints is waay in right now!but i love these types of prints even before they became trendy..its got such nice geometrical features which just gives you a modern, youthful look! the material is cotton lycra but its more bouncier and stretchier i must say!way more softer too. i love it!

go with the flow!

ASSALAMUALAIKUM!PEACE BE UPON YOU:)

i have just moved to melaka because i'll be teaching at uitm lendu next semester in june. currently living with my lil boy hamzah n friend, yaya at rembia perkasa. my husband, jubey will travel back n forth from kl to melaka whenever my friend is not at home (too scared to sleep alone in new house hehe).

so there's not much stuff at my place yet..i dont have a table or a chair to put my sewing machine!waa my hands are itching so bad!n i also have not found a   shop that sells chiffon at a cheap price..in bangi its rm5 per meter..shah alam rm4.50 per meter (both bidang 60") but in melaka bidang 45" its rm6.90!cheapest i can get is RM6..huhu...and i also have not found a place to serger my creations..theres 1 in alor gajah though..hmm maybe i should just buy a serger machine..hehehe..

i've received so many positive feedbacks on my chiffon cardigans and vest..lots of orders too!but i cant proceed with any of it until i find the perfect place to do it...i have a few other new designs in mind waaa..

another design that i would diy is also inspired by fitri aulia's creation from her brand KIVITZ. she uses cotton to make her drapy long cardigan complete with buttons n cuffs!very2 beautiful design..as u can see here:

soo..what i would do is..instead of using cotton 100%..im gonna combine cotton and chiffon!the material is gorgeous but for a person like me who is not so lady like, i tend to get the material crumpled!its very sensitive! So, for the drape part..im gonna use chiffon!that way it would be less crumpled and will achieve a more elegant effect!..

flowy materials such as chiffon, chiffon crepe, cotton viscose has that flowy effect which will make the wearer look slimmer and taller!something which im obviously not!haha...it would also cover any protuberance (boncitness) and cover your body shape as well!islam teaches us to not wear tight clothes!but..if u dont have any other choice or you are in the 1st phase of trying to adapt to a new muslimah style..then you can choose flowy materials to cover up!for big sized people, it is also advisable to use this sort of material to achieve a more slimmer look!:) phat and phabulous!..

here is another example of me in one of my fav cardee/vest..it is sleeveless and beautifully flowy!hehe..my out fit of the day!(posing
n spinning around in my new lecturer's room like a crazy person!)

hehe as you can see..i is very chubby after giving birth..n i is love to eat!when in melaka, i keep eating n drinking coconut shakes..twice a day!omg...oh well..i can always cover up..with style!(hehe pardon my over confidence!)

this style has lots of feedback from family and friends! i hope i will get the chance to diy again!

oh i forgot to mention that this is an accidental creation!haha..it was actually for my friend ema, but i did the arms horribly and i decided to cut it off and replace her chiffon..so i took this one and work it! its got an accidental ribbon too..which i wore at the front..maybe a video presentation would make you see clearer..(i want to do videos like hana tajima when she introduced her black wrap cardigan!)

i can do many styles with it!thats why its VERSTYLE people!!hehe sounds so cheesy but hey, its actually true!hehe..i love paring it with various dresses that i have..this polka dot dress of mine is tight!around the tummy..but you cant see it!hah!coz i covered it up!:P

till next time!wslm!have a great day ahead!!

cardee crazy!!!

Assalamualaikum!
Yayyy its gaji (salary) day today!!! Im so gonna spend it at jakel to make a long cardee inspired by the lovely indonesian fashion designer fitri aulia!take a look at her creation here
Gorgeous!!!
Its a beautiful long cascading cardee! In my opinion..everybody should have one of these darlings because its so versatile, stylish and we must not forget..Modest! I have already made a few cardigans of my own..experimenting with different textures n materials. I usually work with cotton lycra because its easy n i dont have to serger anything! (So lazy!!)
Here is one example i did with denim lycra! a cascading cardee! Love it soo much! The material is a bit stiff so it looks  like a jacket or a a blazer! Perfect for chilly enviroments hehe. Now this lovely flowy dreamy cardee i made with chiffon! I was afraid to use it at first but i just gave it a go..this is how it turned out..
This one has a ribbon at the back

Okay then..enough for today!jakel beckons me!so if ur cardee crazy like me..drop a comment! Wassalam!byee have a happy monday!
